Ramadan Safety Awareness Session

Ramadan Safety Awareness Session

During the holy month of Ramadan, maintaining worker health, safety, and well-being becomes even more important, especially when working in hot environmental conditions. As part of my HSE responsibilities, I conducted a Ramadan Safety Awareness Session focused on safe working practices while fasting.

The session addressed the specific challenges of working in high temperatures while fasting, including dehydration, fatigue, reduced concentration, and heat-related illnesses. Workers were guided on recognizing early symptoms of heat stress and the importance of self-awareness and communication when feeling unwell.

Key preventive measures were emphasized, such as proper workload management, frequent rest breaks in shaded or cool areas, avoiding unnecessary physical exertion during peak heat hours, and strictly following site heat stress management procedures. The importance of proper sleep, nutrition during Suhoor and Iftar, and maintaining hydration outside fasting hours was also highlighted.

The session encouraged a supportive team environment where workers look out for one another and immediately report any signs of distress. Supervisors were reminded of their role in adjusting tasks and ensuring safe working conditions during Ramadan.

This awareness initiative helped reinforce a culture of care, responsibility, and safety, ensuring that work activities could continue safely and efficiently during the fasting period.
