Safety Harness Awareness Training

Safety Harness Awareness Training

Working at height remains one of the most critical high-risk activities on construction and industrial sites. As part of my HSE responsibilities, I conducted a Safety Harness Awareness Training session to ensure workers fully understand the importance of fall protection and the correct use of safety harness systems.

The session covered the importance of using full body harnesses when working at height, highlighting how they prevent serious injuries and fatalities by arresting falls and distributing impact forces safely. Workers were also guided on proper inspection, fitting, and adjustment of harnesses before use, as well as the correct selection of anchorage points and lifelines.

Common mistakes were discussed in detail, including incorrect wearing of harnesses, using damaged or expired equipment, improper anchorage selection, and failure to maintain 100% tie-off while working at height. Real site examples were used to emphasize how small errors can lead to serious consequences.

The training reinforced the importance of daily equipment inspection, proper storage of harnesses, and strict adherence to working-at-height procedures and permit requirements. Workers were encouraged to report defective equipment immediately and never compromise on fall protection standards.

This session strengthened awareness of fall protection practices and contributed to reducing risks associated with working at height.
